Helping Boys with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
What Is Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)?
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is a behavior pattern seen as the inability to focus, with or without agitated behavior getting in the way of his ability to learn and get along. This can interfere with his capacity to finish his work, and function successfully in society.
If your teen is easily diverted from his assignments, jumps from one incomplete task to another and has poor organizational skills, he may well be facing the problems of Attention Deficit Disorder.
Exact cause of ADD (also known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD) is unknown but studies discuss links with diet, genetics and environment.
Brush Creek Academy – Offering a Unique Approach for your Son With Attention Deficit Disorder.
Attention Deficit Disorder is one of the most frequently diagnosed disorders among young people today. As certain other conditions (depression, anxiety, sleep or thyroid problems) can closely imitate ADHD-like behaviors it is imperative to identify this Disorder properly.
Because of the great level of distraction with ADD (often leading to poor academic performance and low self-esteem), a large percentage of boys with it will fail to finish high school. Your boy can certainly learn strategies for success even though he may not completely outgrow his symptoms. There’s no reason for Attention Deficit Disorder to control your son’s life!
Brush Creek Academy – Raising Your Son’s Vision to See Greater Possibilities in Life.
Brush Creek Youth Ranch is a 915-acre working ranch in beautiful Northeastern Oklahoma. Our facility is a 12-15 month residential program accredited with Teen Challenge USA. The Cross Christian Academy is our private, accredited, year round school that the boys attend while at Brush Creek. Our program offers a very structured environment to help foster growth in each of our student’s lives. We use a level system to help teach the students appreciation, gratitude, responsibility, submission to authority, self-control, leadership, time-management, and a strong work ethic. The first levels are very controlled but as the students improve and progress, they are awarded higher levels. The higher levels allow for more privileges, freedom, and responsibilities.
During a student’s stay at Brush Creek, each student will have the opportunity to learn various vocational skills such as welding, basic carpentry, plumbing, lawn care, fence repair & building, livestock care, and other ranch duties. The students are also involved with various community service projects. This aspect of the program is used to assist the students in building a strong work ethic to enable them to be successful in their communities, families, and future careers.
