About Compulsive Personality Disorder

We can work with your boy if he has Compulsive Personality Disorder, sometimes called Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder, or OCPD.  This is experienced as a fixation with control and perfectionism, seen in highly driven (often, first born) children.  Your teen is seeking perfection in almost anything he attempts, and so may have difficulty in being decisive;  he may be overly sensitive to critique, and struggle with flexibility or openness to unfamiliar situations.

Praying togetherHe may show repetitive behaviors (as in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder*) that are beyond his power to stop, be preoccupied with rules and details.  Your boy is likely to toil under the weight of his own expectations as well as perceived expectations of those around him, and perhaps even be a workaholic.

Causes are believed to be an interlinking of unbalanced brain chemistry with hereditary and environment factors.

*Note: while sometimes used interchangeably, OCPD should not to be confused with OCD.  An OCD sufferer has unwanted thoughts, but an OCPD sufferer believes his thinking to be natural and appropriate.

Brush Creek Academy – Offering a Unique Approach for your Son With Compulsive Personality Disorder

A blood test cannot prove a child’s diagnosis; a doctor must determine whether symptoms and life history fit the criteria.  Your teen’s thinking may be so instinctive that he doesn’t see this problem; maybe not until his world crumbles around his feet.

Group/individual and long-term psychotherapy can be invaluable in improving his environment, but your boy will likely be unwilling to change.  You must remember that he has not chosen to have these compulsive thoughts. It is important to encourage him, to help him gain comfort in new ways of thinking, and accept, rather than judge his compulsive behaviors.  Any judgment, perceived or real, only increases the stress he already feels.

Support groups are an excellent option, as a way to gain emotional and social support from the community, assuring your son’s continuing self-sufficiency and steadiness.

Brush Creek Academy – Raising Your Son’s Vision to See Greater Possibilities in Life

Photo Aug 25, 2 20 58 PMBrush Creek Youth Ranch is a 915-acre working ranch in beautiful Northeastern Oklahoma. Our facility is a 12-15 month residential program accredited with Teen Challenge USA. The Cross Christian Academy is our private, accredited, year round school that the boys attend while at Brush Creek. Our program offers a very structured environment to help foster growth in each of our student’s lives. We use a level system to help teach the students appreciation, gratitude, responsibility, submission to authority, self-control, leadership, time-management, and a strong work ethic. The first levels are very controlled but as the students improve and progress, they are awarded higher levels. The higher levels allow for more privileges, freedom, and responsibilities.
During a student’s stay at Brush Creek, each student will have the opportunity to learn various vocational skills such as welding, basic carpentry, plumbing, lawn care, fence repair & building, livestock care, and other ranch duties. The students are also involved with various community service projects. This aspect of the program is used to assist the students in building a strong work ethic to enable them to be successful in their communities, families, and future careers.

We supply a strong sense of responsibility, self-discipline techniques and a renewed love for learning. Our staff of teachers, counselors and wranglers all have an understanding of the medical and psychological conditions that contribute to unacceptable behavior; they know your boy must remain a distinct individual and solutions must be tailor-made for his success.

Brush Creek Academy may be just what you need if you want your good son back, with clear thinking and positive pursuits.  Call us at (918) 435-8206 so we can help your son be better prepared to meet life’s challenges and become a hard working, productive young man.

Should you need help finding boarding schools for girls, or private boarding schools, please let us know. This boarding school can help your teenage boy who is defiant, breaking laws, or otherwise behaving badly. This sort of acting out is common among teenagers troubled with emotional issues or trauma. Such boys may appear to be arrogant and angry, and simply will not listen to authority figures. If your teen is combative and disobedient, a therapeutic boarding school like this one may be the best solution. Many rebellious teenagers are resistant and antagonistic to change, but their malicious or naughty behavior can be corrected, just as their backsliding ways and unmanageable demeanor. Acting as incorrigible rebels, such disorderly boys intentionally act out of line, lacking self-control. Some unruly teens can become angry and hostile, making trouble for both them and their family. Seeking help for your wayward, noncompliant teenager can be a difficult decision, but the sooner their contentious and insubordinate behavior and transgressions can be curbed, the less lifelong damage will be done. Insolent teens who will not mind their parents and misbehave will be changed here. Wild, undisciplined teenage behavior will become respectful and thoughtful behaviors, and bad-tempered teens will become productive members of society, no matter how far they have gone astray.
