Boys with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder are characterized by excessive thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions). – boarding schools and therapeutic residential schools.

Here’s How We Can Help Boys with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Does your son experience an endless cycle of undesirable thoughts (obsessions), which he tries to neutralize by engaging in compulsive actions? Even though he knows that the thoughts or behaviors are disproportionate, and that he will get only fleeting reprieve by performing the compulsive behaviors? We can help your teen as he deals with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (or OCD), an anxiety disorder distinguished by unsolicited and continual ideas, feelings and thoughts.

Does he worry about making mistakes or being embarrassed? ? Is he insistent about precision or symmetry, have urges to harm someone? Or fear disease, germs or dirt? He might show his compulsions by way of ritualistic behaviors, such as repeatedly saying one word or phrase, or the same numerical sequence. Duplicating everyday activities (like entering/leaving a room, open/closing a drawer, washing his hands), consuming his meals in a predictable, precise pattern, or hoarding items (especially ones with little or no real value) all might be indicative of OCD.

*Note: An OCD sufferer has unwanted thoughts and knows that they are pointless, while an OCPD sufferer believes his thinking to be natural and appropriate. OCD should therefore not be confused with OCPD, or Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder

Brush Creek – How We Can Handle Your Son with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Cognitive behavior therapy is most efficient, often in conjunction with medication, in helping an OCD sufferer deal with his fears and anxieties in healthy ways. Anti-depressants (particularly ones that interact with the brain’s serotonin production) can useful in diminishing symptoms of OCD.

If not treated, your child might suffer other problems (although not all of them will be directly brought on by OCD): depression, eating or anxiety disorders, substance abuse, a general, poor quality of life, suicidal thoughts (or behavior).

Brush Creek – When You Want Your Good Son Back, with Clear Thinking and Positive Pursuits.

Brush Creek is a 915-acre working ranch in beautiful Northeastern Oklahoma. Our facility is a 12-15 month residential program accredited with Teen Challenge USA. The Cross Christian Academy is our private, accredited, year round school that the boys attend while at Brush Creek. Our program offers a very structured environment to help foster growth in each of our student’s lives. We use a level system to help teach the students appreciation, gratitude, responsibility, submission to authority, self-control, leadership, time-management, and a strong work ethic. The first levels are very controlled but as the students improve and progress, they are awarded higher levels. The higher levels allow for more privileges, freedom, and responsibilities.

During a student’s stay at Brush Creek, each student will have the opportunity to learn various vocational skills such as welding, basic carpentry, plumbing, lawn care, fence repair & building, livestock care, and other ranch duties. The students are also involved with various community service projects. This aspect of the program is used to assist the students in building a strong work ethic to enable them to be successful in their communities, families, and future careers.

Your son will be presented with new challenges until ultimately he is ready to return home, able to once again enjoy family and friends. If you’ve reached your wits’ end with your out-of-control boy, call us at (918) 435-8206.
