This program is unlike typical institutions in Missouri, in that it lacks the feel of an institution, instead providing a caring, homelike atmosphere where children feel secure and relaxed, while being highly supervised. This has been demonstrated to be the atmosphere in which teenagers can achieve the largest measure of success. If your teenager is dealing with depression, anxiety, lack of self-confidence, trauma, or substance abuse problems, our program’s staff is able to deal with these issues and help them to heal.

The scholastic program offered at this academy is specifically built with troubled teens in mind. Some boarding schools insist upon maintaining tight standards of academic distinction. At this program, we recognize that dysfunctional teens typically have lagged behind in schoolwork and are in need of specific academic support that can get them back on track.
Although academic excellence is, of course, the ideal, this program is designed to deal with the specialized needs of troubled teenagers. More than just academics, personal work is necessary to address problematic thought patterns that underlie many of the struggles teens are dealing with. Simply focusing on surface issues like behavior and education will not be enough in terms of creating a real, enduring modification in these teenagers. In fact, after the emotional and spiritual elements of these teenager’s difficulties are treated, they tend to straighten out in other parts of their lives, like academics and behavior.
At this program, we push for a re-discovery of their innate interest in exercise and the outdoors. Keeping teens physically challenged gains health and confidence, which are important additions to the counseling students receive. Students at this school learn useful, practical work skills. This teaches trustworthiness and accountability, as well as building self-esteem. Teenagers learn, in this therapeutic setting, to balance work and play, creating a practical and admirable work ethic. This carries on into their life after their time here, allowing them to become useful, productive members of society.
Within this safe and supportive program, students are able to learn principles, and discover God. This is the only effective technique for teens to be rid of the selfishness and self-centeredness that leads to the majority of their problematic behaviors, from addiction to other conduct disorders. Within a positive structure, and immersed in healthy influences, students gain a new, healthy peer group that will hold them accountable and encourage them in their new, spiritual way of living.
