Boys from El Dorado, Arkansas, struggling in education can discover success with proper support at this therapeutic boarding school.
The academic program offered at this academy is especially built with difficult teens in mind. Some boarding schools insist upon upholding tight standards of academic merit. At this program, we acknowledge that dysfunctional teens typically have fallen behind in academics and are in need of specialized academic support that can get them back on track.
Although academic success is, of course, the aim, this program is designed to cope with the unique needs of troubled teenagers. In addition to academics, therapy is essential to address unhealthy thought patterns that are at the root of many of the problems teens are facing. Just addressing surface issues like actions and education will not suffice in terms of shaping a real, lasting modification in these teenagers. In fact, once the emotional and spiritual components of these teenager’s problems are addressed, they tend to straighten out in other parts of their lives, like academics and behavior.
At this program, we push for a regaining of their God-given interest in exercise and the outdoors. Keeping teens physically active builds fitness and self-esteem, which are important additions to the counseling students experience. Students at this school learn useful, hands-on work skills. This teaches trustworthiness and integrity, as well as increasing self-esteem. Teenagers learn, in this therapeutic program, to balance work and play, building a reliable and healthy work ethic. This carries on into their life after the program, enabling them to become viable, productive members of society.
Within this supervised and compassionate program, students can learn principles, and find God. This is the only effective method for teens to be rid of the selfishness and self-centeredness that causes many of their dysfunctional patterns, from addiction to other behavioral disorders. Within a healthy structure, and surrounded by helpful influences, students develop a new, healthy peer group that can hold them accountable and encourage them in their new, spiritual way of living.
