Brush Creek Academy Restores Teens with Great Athletic Programs.
When you’re looking at top therapeutic Christian boarding schools, be sure that they offer a variety of activities and sports as well as a strong academic focus. Some parents may see sports and activities as a waste of time that simply reduces academic achievement, however competitive athletics can improve the learning development of students who participate.
Brush Creek Academy is an independent ministry of Teen Challenge Oklahoma that has an excellent varsity-level competitive athletics program.
Brush Creek is a lower-cost, therapeutic Christian boarding school located on a 900-acre ranch in beautiful Northeast Oklahoma. Our campus is designed for at-risk boys, ages 14-17, who are struggling with life-controlling issues. The goal here at Brush Creek, is to provide troubled teens and their families with a well-structured program with special tools and resources to thrive academically, relationally, and spiritually. We help once struggling teen boys begin living a fulfilling life, equipping them to become happy, confident, self-reliant, and successful adults. One of the ways we do this is through our varsity-level competitive athletics.
Brush Creek Academy offers a host of athletics including:
- Varsity football
- Basketball
- Track
Our students have won numerous individual awards as well as three state championships in basketball and football.
As students participate in team sports activities here at Brush Creek Academy, they experience challenges that can help build character, and teach respect for a leader’s authority. Your struggling teen won’t fall behind his peers in athletics as they learn to persevere through sweaty workouts, they also grow a better sense of self-worth. Student players learn time management and how to get along with others.
Playing team sports together also helps students build important interactive skills and to work out many of the issues a young boy might be dealing with in his life, instead of hiding behind a computer. As they talk, share and open up to one another, young teens can learn to show respect for personal differences, and practice kindness and honesty. And communication skills learned now also help build social interaction and support success in their future vocations and careers.
