Boys With Reactive Attachment Disorder
Here’s How Reactive Attachment Disorder Looks
There are two types of Reactive Attachment Disorder (or RAD). One may find your son aloof, isolated, unemotional, or withdrawn. With the other kind he might act improperly or be inappropriately affectionate with complete strangers.
Reactive Attachment Disorder (also known as Radical Attachment Disorder) is a rare but serious condition in which a child has been unable to form a healthy emotional attachment with mother (or primary caregiver). A baby learns to bond when his physical and emotional needs are reliably addressed. Lacking that consistent care (possibly due to adoption or temporary foster care situations), he may struggle to establish any close bonds.
Brush Creek Academy– Offering a Unique Approach for your Son With Reactive Attachment Disorder.
We can help your boy if he struggles with RAD, by providing him with the nurturing and secure environment of Brush Creek Academy that will enable him to learn to create healthy connections.
Family therapy may be a critical part of his treatment plan, encouraging your deeper communication with him. By teaching you (parenting) skills that can help heal his Disorder, he can avoid developing deeper social and behavioral issues later in life, and rather go on to enjoy healthy relationships with you and with others.
Brush Creek Academy – Raising Your Son’s Vision to See Greater Possibilities in Life.
Brush Creek Youth Ranch is a 915-acre working ranch in beautiful Northeastern Oklahoma. Our facility is a 12-15 month residential program accredited with Teen Challenge USA. The Cross Christian Academy is our private, accredited, year round school that the boys attend while at Brush Creek. Our program offers a very structured environment to help foster growth in each of our student’s lives. We use a level system to help teach the students appreciation, gratitude, responsibility, submission to authority, self-control, leadership, time-management, and a strong work ethic. The first levels are very controlled but as the students improve and progress, they are awarded higher levels. The higher levels allow for more privileges, freedom, and responsibilities.
During a student’s stay at Brush Creek, each student will have the opportunity to learn various vocational skills such as welding, basic carpentry, plumbing, lawn care, fence repair & building, livestock care, and other ranch duties. The students are also involved with various community service projects. This aspect of the program is used to assist the students in building a strong work ethic to enable them to be successful in their communities, families, and future careers.
